How Keeping Your Cool Doesn't Have To Cost A Fortune

Autumn might be rolling in, but the temperatures are not showing any sign of dropping at the moment. As is typical in September, we are experiencing some beautiful, warm sunny days still, and some quite muggy and uncomfortable nights. It can be a bit jarring - when the leaves are changing colour and starting to drop, we expect to be putting the heating on, not the air conditioning.

Air conditioning is still not in the majority of houses in the UK, but with temperatures hitting unprecedented heights, we are taking notes from countries who know how to deal with warm temperatures and many more of us are starting to fit air conditioning units into our homes. After all, most of us have them in our car and rejoice in the coolness; why not in our homes?

The problem with air conditioning is that it can be expensive to run, especially if you have it running all summer. When you see your energy bills rising in the summer, you are more likely to ditch the air-con and open a window instead. It doesn’t have to be that way though - while it is going to cost more money that not having it, air con does not have to cost you an arm and a leg. The infographic below shows some of the ways in which you can save money on your heating costs.
