Preparing for baby?

So at what point do you start to pack your hospital bag? You'd have thought I knew all these answers by my 3rd baby but I'm still none the wiser!
I will still inevitably write a very long list and over pack for both myself and baby. I will still take a small suitcase and a large weekend bag.
I think it's just what it needed to do!

I've been looking through my pictures from Lily's hospital bag and I know I didn't use most of it but I can't swindle it into a smaller list so it is inevitable to take it all again for this one.

My list included
  •  12 xSize 0 nappies
  • 12 x Size 1 nappies
  • Nappy bags
  • Wipes
  • Cotton wool balls and pleats
  • Maternity pads
  • Moisturizing cream
  • Travel size showergel, shampoo, conditioner and soap
  • Reusable breastpads
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • A nightie
  • A change of clothes
  • A towel
  • Hair bobbles
  • Hair brush
  • 3 x muslin cloths
  • 1 x baby hat
  • 1 x pair of scratch mittens
  • 1 x pair of booties
  • 1 x knitted cardigan
  • 3 x tiny baby vests and sleepsuits
  • 3 x newborn vests and sleepsuits
  • 1 x 0-3 vests and sleepsuits
For a July baby, this list did me well as I didn't need a thick snow suit and a muslin cloth was decent enough to cover baby on the short walk to the car.

Now looking over what I had in my bags there I am aware I didn't need it all but I wanted to make sure I had some clothes the right size to fit!
I may be able to cut down some of my toiletries and even some of babies but at the moment in time, I haven't even thought into what is going into my bags.

That is something for a later date.
